Originally, this area was just an outdoor courtyard outside the residence. Later, in 1968, when Dr. Gao built Gao’an Hospital, the two buildings were connected to form a central courtyard.

 

Several years later, a ceiling was added, converting the space into an indoor area. It was not until the restoration work in 2020 that the interior finishes were removed, returning the space to its original open form.
